I despise packing.
There was a time when I made lists. When I packed a week in advance.
Now, there are no lists.
A day before I leave, I throw random things into a suitcase.
Of course, this does not mean I am careless or unorganized. There is a definite method to my presumed madness. Known only to me and a few others.
The only things that I am really concerned about are my electronics. And I don’t forget them anyway. They are more important than my toothbrush or face wash. Right up there with my passport.
The baby complicates matters slightly.
More things.
More stuff.
More indispensable items that should not be forgotten.
I might have to revisit the list making days for a while.
Anyhoo, I was just raiding my closet and getting all the blingy chiffons and the shiny Kancheepurams out of their comfy, muslin homes.
Sarees that is.
Haven’t worn one in a while now. Over two years. Maybe more.
I haven’t attended a wedding either. For eons now.
I once hated weddings. (That will a story for another post.) But now, I love them!
Dressing up.
Barely-air-conditioned halls.
Maniacal, bouquet busting kids running around un-supervised like tornadoes; wreaking havoc.
Over-made up, too-light-a-foundation, decked -in-gold-from- head-to-toe brides.
Gossipy, pudgy aunties in yarns of expensive but unflattering brocade and silk.
Balding, gassy uncles in perennial search of a tooth-pick.
And poor, harried, sweaty grooms.
Aaah, I love them all.
I have a couple of weddings ahead. And I am looking forward to letting my hair down, wearing heavy sarees and loads of jewellery and eating tons of Thalassery Biriyani and other treats which I do not know how to spell and you folks will not know how to pronounce! Smack! Slurp!
My aunts, cousins and nieces have all been calling me (actually badgering would be a more accurate description)- asking me to get this and that, bits and bobs, lipsticks and accessories, serums and creams…. I am the in-house personal shopper, you see.
And make-up consultant 🙂
So, here’s a peek into what I am packing for the wedding. Make-up wise.
I wouldn’t usually pack so much for a trip. This is an extended, all- inclusive version assuming I would be “doing-up” a lot more people than just me!
Though it may be considered improper and snoopy, I am sometimes curious to know what people carry around in their hand-bags, vanities and make-up bags.
Aren’t you folks so?
This post is dedicated to all such folks!
What’s in my travel make-up bag?
I tried my hardest to pack “light”. To minimize the number of items, I picked multi-purpose products.
Also, a lot of my favorite make-up (read expensive!) items are back home in Doha 😦

There still might be a couple of things missing. There is always some last minute running around to do…..
Till next time…
Dr J.
OHH…..MY…..GOOD….LORD
